Build Your Team – the Importance of Networking for Traders

As a Trading Mentor, I have had the opportunity to work with many different people over the years. People are dynamic. They learn in different ways, communicate in different ways and to do my job as a mentor, I have to be able to identify those traits and then teach to them. This is my skill. You want me on your team. But, I also need people on my team. Networking is a crucial part of any successful business plan or entrepreneur’s mindset. It doesn’t matter what your station in life is, you need to put people on your team.

Trading is the kind of business that, on the outside, might appeal to a recluse. The thinking might be that you can hide behind a computer screen and not have to interact with the world. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Trading is a business. To build your Trading Business successfully, you need to surround yourself with other human beings who can bring something positive to your perspective, approach, or knowledge.

As volatility is rocking the Markets this month, you can use people to help you understand what’s happening in the market. How do you connect with those individuals? The first thing I’d recommend is to attend some of the Corporate Finance Institute (CFI) Symposiums, Webinars, Mentor Panels, and events. When you’re at those events, be social! Shake hands, fist bump, high-five, listen in on conversations, ask questions, and NETWORK!

By developing a powerful team, you will be in a better position to build a successful business. You cannot simply replicate someone else’s trading system 100%. You need to take the strategies, training, and rules provided in your courses, books, and mentoring and make them your own. The only way you can do that is through practice, review, adjusting, and getting better. Who better to learn from than other traders? Whether you’re listening to stories of losing trades, winning systems, or crazy days in the market you will be learning. And you can grow from it. Success is contagious. Surround yourself with successful people.
