Analyzing Your Current Entertainment Spending

Analyzing Your Current Entertainment Spending

It’s essential, first off, to understand where your money’s currently directed. Evaluate, with an eagle eye, your current expenditure on entertainment.

Track Your Monthly Entertainment Expenses

Comprehending your current spending on entertainment isn’t a Herculean task. Begin by keeping track of your monthly expenditures. Direct your focus towards expenses such as movies, concerts, amusement parks, casual dine-outs, and paid streaming services. A convenient way to do this is through budgeting apps for teens, banking statements, or even a good ol’ spreadsheet. Obtain detailed records for the past six months to gain a comprehensive analysis.

Identify Non-Essential Entertainment Costs

Armed with records of your entertainment expenditures, classify the expenses into categories: essential and non-essential. The personal values you accord to different activities guide this classification process. For instance, the monthly subscription to a streaming service might be essential for some, while others may consider it non-essential. Pare down non-essential costs, knowing that it’ll bring significant savings to your entertainment budget without depriving you of enjoyment.

Embracing Free Entertainment Options

Embracing Free Entertainment Options

Given the emphasis on spending wisely, taking in local free events offers a viable solution for entertainment spending. Various cities often harbor a wealth of free entertainment options, from music festivals to art exhibits. By accessing your local community’s online event calendar, you’ll discover a generous assortment of cost-free events such as open-air concerts, public art installations, and neighborhood festivals. For instance, you might find a free yoga session in the park or a community theatre offering a gratis performance.

It’s a reality that local free events not only offer amusement but also provide an opportunity to socialize and experience cultural diversity. Be sure to stay updated with your local town announcements, if not, you may miss exciting free events.

Utilize Free Online Resources

The digital landscape provides a wide range of entertainment options, and if used wisely, they can significantly reduce entertainment expenses. Among these free online resources are YouTube tutorials, free online courses, podcasts, and online libraries. For instance, countless reputable universities offer free online courses on platforms like Coursera, making it possible for you to acquire new knowledge and skills at no cost.

Investing time in online entertainment resources doesn’t detract from your enjoyment but allows you to save significant amounts, demonstrated by the endless possibilities that the digital world unfurls, like music, eBooks, and educational games.

Remember, optimizing the use of free resources doesn’t mean you’re missing out on any fun. Instead, it implies you’re cleverly channeling your entertainment expenses towards more fruitful avenues. Remember, it’s not the cost of entertainment but the joy it brings that truly matters.

Subscription Services Strategies

Subscription Services Strategies

Maintaining a firm grip on our amusement doesn’t imply abandoning favorite activities. Implementing practical strategies for our subscription services can save us a significant amount of cash. Here’s how.

Share Plans to Reduce Costs

Joining forces with friends or family members in sharing a subscription plan is a smart tactic. For example, Netflix allows up to four simultaneous connections, whereas Spotify provides a family plan for multiple users. When divided equally, the cost per person drops drastically. However, remember to scrutinize the sharing policies before proceeding, as some services limit sharing between different households.

Analyze and Prune Unused Subscriptions

Performing a regular audit of active subscriptions helps slash unnecessary expenses. Apps like Truebill and Trim aid in tracking our subscriptions, notifying us about payments set to happen, and assisting us in canceling services we no longer use. For instance, I was an active subscriber to both Amazon Prime Video and Hulu but realized I primarily watched shows on Hulu. The result? Amazon Prime Video was pruned, shaving several dollars off my monthly expenditure.

Thus, considering shared plans and thoughtful pruning of unused services are two effective strategies to curb spending on subscription services. While these tips enforce mindful management of entertainment budgets, they empower us to enjoy our favorite sources of amusement without undermining our financial sustainability.

Smart Use of Discounts and Offers

Smart Use of Discounts and Offers

Discounts and offers present ample chances for entertainment savings. I specialize in discovering these opportunities and maximizing the potential savings.

Where to Find Entertainment Discounts

Various places offer a trove of entertainment discounts. Major entertainment providers such as Amazon, Netflix, Spotify, and Apple often deliver discounted rates for their services. They also run special promotions during holidays or events.

It’s also useful exploring over-the-top (OTT) subscription platforms. They provide entertainment services at lower costs compared to traditional cable and gives you access to numerous channels including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and more.

Don’t ignore the potential of discount sites such as Groupon, LivingSocial, RetailMeNot, and Slickdeals. These sites have sections dedicated to entertainment deals, featuring discounts on movies, music, events, and more.

Finally, check your credit card deals. Some cards offer cash back or discounts on specific entertainment activities.

Timing Purchases for Sales and Special Offers

Timing is critical when it comes to saving money on home entertainment. Sales events like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Amazon Prime Day offer significant discounts on entertainment products and services.

Subscription services also offer special deals for students, military personnel, and senior citizens. Certain entertainment providers also have special deals during off-peak times or last-minute sales, such as cinema theaters offering cheaper rates on weekday mornings, or Broadway shows releasing ‘rush’ tickets at lower prices.

Keep track of these events and plan your entertainment purchases accordingly. By being strategic, you can enjoy the entertainment you love without breaking the bank.

I am thrilled to have been invited to blog about my experiences trading stock and options with Rich Dad.  Since 1998, when I picked up my first Rich Dad book “Rich Dad Poor Dad”, I have been hooked on Robert and Kim’s philosophies on becoming financially free through investing.  Their books and courses have changed my life as well as my daughter’s life, whom I am now teaching all I have learned about trading stock and options.

My experience has been in the real estate and finance industry for 20 years.  I was a Realtor with ERA, a Mortgage Loan Officer with Bank of America, and a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley.  Each time I chose a career that I thought I would get “the inside track” on investing and each time I learned it was just a “job”, although very good job and I was lucky enough to enjoy my career.  Simply put, these jobs would only get me a paycheck but never take me to financial freedom and the dreams and lifestyle I was looking to achieve.

With that said, I have no desire to make millions to have expensive “things” but I do have a dream to not only become financially free for myself and my family but also for others.  I started an organization called GROW Africa to help others.  We build wells in the farthest reaches of the earth in the bush of Zambia.  The women and children have to walk up to 4 hours each way to carry as much water as they can carry back.  I thought that was such a basic human need, that I felt I needed to do something about it, and did.

What is super cool about the training I received through Rich Dad Education on trading stocks and options is, now that I am educated on the Rich Dad stock trading system, I can trade anywhere in the world, including while I am in remote Africa building wells, providing water for those with little or none, as long as I have a power source and a satellite internet card.  Now that is freedom!

I am looking forward to sharing my experiences about trading stocks and options and walking with you on the path to financial freedom.  This is a process of building your wealth consistently over time, then passing it on to your children creating generational wealth.  I wish you all success and can’t wait to hear some of your stories of success as time ticks on!
