Secrets on How to Save Money on Event Tickets in 2024

We’ve all been there, haven’t we? That heart-sinking moment when you see the price of tickets for your favorite band’s concert, or that must-attend sports event. It seems like having fun comes with a hefty price tag these days. But don’t despair, I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be this way.

Understanding Ticket Pricing Dynamics

Understanding Ticket Pricing Dynamics

Diving into the world of ticket pricing, you’ll notice how certain dynamics largely impact the cost. Let’s delve deeper to learn more about these influencing factors and how they affect the cost of your event tickets.

Factors Influencing Ticket Prices

Numerous factors directly sway ticket prices for nearly every kind of event. Below are a few key determinants:

  1. Event popularity: In cases where the event involves internationally renowned artists or prominent sports teams, tickets can surge in prices.
  2. Supply and Demand: The principle of supply versus demand applies. If more people chase fewer tickets, prices rise.
  3. Venue Size and Location: Large, lavish venues in metro cities rack up ticket costs due to high overheads and prime real estate locations.
  4. Sponsorship and Endorsements: If an event is highly sponsored, the sponsors often cover a part of the ticket prices. Conversely, with lesser sponsorship, the ticket prices can go up.

Peak Seasons for Ticket Sales

Just like other industries, the ticketing industry also displays peak seasons. The when element can significantly affect your event ticket pricing. Here are some insights:

  1. Major Holidays and Festivals: During festive seasons or long weekends, the influx of events increases and so does the cost of tickets, so there are loans for it like Christmas loans.
  2. High Profile Event Days: On days when major events occur (e.g., Super Bowl, Grammy Awards), other event prices may inflate.
  3. Off-Season Events: If you’re open to attending less popular events or those conducted in off-peak seasons, you could grab tickets at lower prices.

By understanding these pricing dynamics, you’re a step closer to saving money on event tickets.

Tips for Finding the Best Deals on Event Tickets

Deals on Event Tickets

Weaving through the complexity of ticket pricing can prove fruitful when hunting for good deals on event tickets. Here are a couple strategies I’ve found that make a difference.

Early Bird Discounts

Typically, event organizers offer discounts to those who purchase tickets well in advance. They do this to ensure a minimum viable audience for the event. Here’s the thing, though – these money-saving tips opportunities aren’t always marketed with screaming signs. Keep an eye out for these discounts on your favorite event organiser’s website, or subscribe to their mailing list to stay updated. Attendees can secure savings by purchasing tickets the moment the sales window opens, in what’s called a ‘presale’. For instance, popular music festivals such as Coachella and Tomorrowland often have presale tickets that go fast but reap significant savings.

Utilizing Technology to Save on Tickets

Technology to Save on Tickets

As we further immerse ourselves in the digital age, technology proves to be a useful ally in nabbing discounted tickets. From user-friendly apps to reliable websites, there’s an abundance of platforms to secure savings on event tickets.

Best Apps and Websites for Ticket Discounts

Launching the discussion on digital platforms, let’s delve into some of the best apps and websites out there. Counted among these are StubHub, Vivid Seats, and Gametime. StubHub, for instance, offers a comprehensive range of tickets from concerts to sports events, and even theatre productions. Vivid Seats, conversely, shines in its rewards program, earning you credit as you purchase more tickets. Gametime caters to the spontaneous, offering last-minute tickets at reasonable prices.

Also noteworthy are websites like Craigslist and Groupon. Craigslist, despite its no-frills facade, is a goldmine for discounted tickets, especially those for sold-out events. Groupon, on the other hand, excels in group discounts and package deals.

Alerts and Notifications for Price Drops

A masterstroke in ticket savings comes in the form of alerts and notifications for price drops. Many ticket selling platforms offer this feature, signaling when ticket prices for specific events drop. This eliminates the need for constant checking, allotting more time to plan your attendance. An example is the app Bandsintown, it not only alerts of upcoming concerts but also notifies when ticket prices decrease.

Remember, with event tickets, as with many other commodities, prices fluctuate. Utilizing technology not only offers you an easier purchasing process but substantial savings as well.

Insider Secrets to Cheap Tickets

Secrets to Cheap Tickets

Continuing our journey into event-ticket savings, we delve into insider secrets that can further maximize your chances of landing cheap tickets.

Buying from Resellers vs. Official Sources

When it comes to purchasing tickets, turning to resellers often brings about savings. Resale platforms, like StubHub or Vivid Seats, play host to secondary sellers looking to offload their tickets, creating a marketplace ripe for deal seekers.

Take advantage of the price drops that occur when sellers resort to lowering prices as an event date nears. But remember, proceed with caution and make sure you’re dealing with a legit platform to avoid getting scammed.

Alternatively, sticking to official sources like the event’s website or box office could seem like a safer choice. Yet, it’s worth noting that scoring a deal from these sources isn’t uncommon. Ticket vending sites, such as Ticketmaster, often have last-minute discounts for selected events, so keep an eye out for those deals.

The Role of Social Media in Scoring Deals

Social media, with its vast networking abilities, acts as a valuable tool in obtaining discounted tickets. Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are renowned for hosting flash sales, promotional discounts, or contests from event organizers themselves or partners like radio stations.

By following your favorite artists, festivals, sports teams, or venues on these platforms, you’re placing yourself right in the prime newsfeed real estate for deals and discounts.

For instance, “Twitter Tuesday” is a regular feature where event discounts are tweeted, so it’s prime time for you to swoop in and secure those deals. Similarly, many artists run fan contests on their Instagram pages, allowing followers a chance to win tickets.

In short, leveraging the power of social media is another savvy step to take in your quest for more affordable event tickets. The time you invest can lead to substantial savings, making those much-anticipated events more accessible on your budget.

I am thrilled to have been invited to blog about my experiences trading stock and options with Rich Dad.  Since 1998, when I picked up my first Rich Dad book “Rich Dad Poor Dad”, I have been hooked on Robert and Kim’s philosophies on becoming financially free through investing.  Their books and courses have changed my life as well as my daughter’s life, whom I am now teaching all I have learned about trading stock and options.

My experience has been in the real estate and finance industry for 20 years.  I was a Realtor with ERA, a Mortgage Loan Officer with Bank of America, and a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley.  Each time I chose a career that I thought I would get “the inside track” on investing and each time I learned it was just a “job”, although very good job and I was lucky enough to enjoy my career.  Simply put, these jobs would only get me a paycheck but never take me to financial freedom and the dreams and lifestyle I was looking to achieve.

With that said, I have no desire to make millions to have expensive “things” but I do have a dream to not only become financially free for myself and my family but also for others.  I started an organization called GROW Africa to help others.  We build wells in the farthest reaches of the earth in the bush of Zambia.  The women and children have to walk up to 4 hours each way to carry as much water as they can carry back.  I thought that was such a basic human need, that I felt I needed to do something about it, and did.

What is super cool about the training I received through Rich Dad Education on trading stocks and options is, now that I am educated on the Rich Dad stock trading system, I can trade anywhere in the world, including while I am in remote Africa building wells, providing water for those with little or none, as long as I have a power source and a satellite internet card.  Now that is freedom!

I am looking forward to sharing my experiences about trading stocks and options and walking with you on the path to financial freedom.  This is a process of building your wealth consistently over time, then passing it on to your children creating generational wealth.  I wish you all success and can’t wait to hear some of your stories of success as time ticks on!
